I could sum this box up by simply saying that its a box full of Nars goodies, some of which are adorable minis and be done with the whole post, and I imagine people would still think it was fabulous, because it’s NARS. I mean come on, everything they do is amazing.
But for those of you who love a good beauty post I shall elaborate a touch more.
I brought this on a total whim mainly because I am a sucker for branded boxes and I did genuinely need a new Orgasm blusher of which there is a mini in this box.
The idea of the box is to promote the new Nars Matte Skin Tint Foundation. Now I don’t wear foundation every day, in fact I wear it probably 5/6 times a month, max. The box not only has the new foundation, it also has 5 mini Nars products to wet your whistle.
So why did I buy this box? We all know it wasn’t JUST for the mini teeny tiny cute Orgasm blusher and the sexy as hell black box….
Well simply put, I wanted too. (No. I definitely cannot write that, my hubby might read this for gawds sake!)
Ok truly it was because the foundation sounded lush and it has been a long time since I’ve brought a high end foundation. Plus it has lots of minis in, a few which I have been meaning to try after hearing people rave about them. In particular the lip pencil and lipgloss.
So let’s get to my thoughts on the foundation and the mini products with a few photos along side to help you visualise some of the products.
Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint foundation.
Firstly, velvet is right. This foundation is so smooth to apply and feels equally as smooth on the skin. It truly does leave your skin feeling like velvet. It goes on easily (I found it easier with my fingers than with a brush) and creates a buildable natural matte affect on the skin.
It wore very well and lasted all day on the skin. It also covered up redness and the odd blemish well. I was impressed with how light this felt on my skin as I expected it to feel heavier being that it was a matte foundation, and being someone who doesn’t really like the feeling of foundation on her face, that was a bonus.
I applied two light layers and created a light/medium coverage. You could build this up to more if you wanted.
Overall I am pleased with the foundation. I am slightly gutted that I chose the wrong colour due to ordering online but it is still wearable. I feel this gives the skin a very sophisticated finished look, but equally a pretty natural look.
(The picture is just the foundation with no concealer/under eye product added.)
Nars Orgasm Blusher
This is my everyday blusher so I think it’s safe to say I love it. This is a pink blusher with very subtle flecks of gold. It creates a very flushed’ winters day’ cheek, but also adds a sexy touch of highlight and luminosity to the skin. A lot of people comment on my cheek colour due to the luminous gold/pink tones that it adds to my face.
If you have never tried this blusher I urge you to try it. It is beautiful and has a cracker of a ‘cheeky’ name! (Get it! Get it! I know I’m #lame)
Lip Gloss in Priscilla
This colour looks so vibrant I was a little unsure I could pull it off while tackling the ball pits in the local soft play area with my toddler, but to my delight when it’s on its very wearable. The texture is lovely and smooth and gives a very glossy appearance. Not sticky at all and lasts pretty well for a gloss.
Looks lovely over the top of lippie or its on its own.

Audacious Mascara in Black Moon
I am a tough customer when it comes to mascara and sadly this did not wow me enough to consider using over my fave Maybelline Lash Sensational or YSl False Lash Effect. It does give a good effect with its just not as volumising as I like a mascara to be.
Its VERY lengthening and easy to apply. It gives a more natural look which is pretty and if that’s your bag when it comes to mascaras, then this could be the one for you.
I wasn’t so keen on the brush but that’s probably just me. Nice colour though, not too black and it did last all day.
Large Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Via Veneto
This was so easy to apply. I know all eyeliners are like that the first time you use them, all pointy and precise but this seemed extra smooth.
The colour is black which may or may not be what Via Veneto means. It applied really well. There was a little bit of transfer when I moved my eyes after applying but I think that if you waited a minute it would dry and be fine. It lasted all day and didn’t smudge otherwise.
Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien
When I saw this was a lip pencil I presumed it was a ‘line you lips’ only type lip liner but is in fact a lip crayon type thing. It is one of Nars raved about products and I can see why.
The colour is fabulous, very natural yet gives your lips a pouty look. It stayed on really well and was very smooth to apply. I love the fact it’s a pencil style and you can use it to line your lips or use it all over, and just hope that when you have to sharpen it not too much is lost.
Fabulous product. Will definitely be exploring the other colours and the matte version.

Overall a fabulous box with some very nice products inside. I do wish it had some type of makeup bag inside but that’s me probably being greedy.
The box retails at £60 and you can get it here http://uk.spacenk.com/en_GB/the-modern-minimalist-collection/MUK200016962.html at Space NK.
The foundation retails at £30 alone and the full size blusher is £23 and this one is about 75% the size of the full size so alone that’s quite a buy!
I’m glad I brought it and my stand out product (not including the blush as I use that anyhow) is the Satin lip pencil. Very wearable and easy to apply when your having a mad morning and applying lippie is that last thing on your mind.
What is brilliant about the box is that you can create complete makeup look (with perhaps the help of some under eye concealer) and it really shows you how little you actually need to create a gorgeous look.
Go check it out. Its limited edition so it won’t be around forever!
