Recent Beauty Favourites. #muststopbuyingmakeup

I’ve recently brought some new makeup items that I have discovered to be totally fabulous. And not in the ‘every YSL lippie I buy is totally fabulous’ type way. I mean in the ‘it does exactly what it says on the tin and more’ type way.

Right now  after that awkward introduction is out the way- onto the products!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara £7

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Ok I’ve got the excitement out of the way, but now let me follow it up with this-

I am a bit of a mascara snob. Not sure why but I am. I think it’s partly because mascara is my makeup thing. You know that item you have to have looking right in your makeup look? Yep. For me that’s mascara.

I have used YSL False Lash Effect mascara for going on 12 years. As of late I have been slightly disappointed. Whether it’s been a bit too gooey to apply or flaking off or just simply not giving me the UMPH I want from a mascara, I needed a change. Especially at £25 a tube. I tried Better Than Sex from Too Faced- twas ok. I tried Benefit Bad Gal Lash- not keen on the brush.

Then I was brave (I joke) and I tried this ‘drug store’ Maybelline number……

Well well well. It’s only bloody fantastic! The brush is curved and I do use the side that is curved inwards more than the other, but is so volumizing and thickening! It stays put and isn’t a b*****d to remove and doesn’t flake. Plus its £7.

I’m a changed girl.

Pixi Tinted Lip Brilliance Balm in Nearly Naked £12

I love the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms (especially in Pixi Pink) and upon realising that my local M&S now has a new beauty department (very nice) and a Pixi counter (very very nice) I got to trying some other lip products. I wanted a nude with a tad of sheen and spotted this pen like creation. Tried it on and voila! The perfect nude for me. Love it.

Stays on so well and super easy to apply. Makes my lips feel very moisturized and I think they look fuller when I wear it. I will definitely be hitting up M & S for a browse of more colours! I haven’t stopped wearing it since I brought it.

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eye Liner Pot in Espresso Ink £18.50

This is essentially a liquid liner in a pot which I know does not sound all that exciting. I really wanted to share this product though as there is something really special about it.

It stays on and doesn’t smudge at all and I like the fact that using a small brush (I was suckered into buying the Bobbi Brown Ultra Precise Eyeliner Brush and it is brilliant) you can create a very soft daytime look and a dramatic cat eye evening look. Lovely texture and I can tell it’s going to last for a long time. Great item.

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector £28

I saw this on a YouTube video of a makeover with a Bobbi Brown makeup artist and realised I had never tried a serum with a corrector in for under my eyes. Using this product alone, even before putting a concealer on gives quite an impressive brightened under eye (seen in the picture on one eye using just this product alone).

It instantly brightens and smoothes the under eye and creates a base for your concealer (I use Touche Eclat by YSL on top). Plus as its a serum it feels lovely on the under eye area.

Primark Lipliner Various colours £1

I succumbed to the till point add on items in Primark a month ago and I threw a few of their £1.00 lipliners in my basket. My thoughts were along the lines of ‘what have I got to lose?’.

And let me tell you- I not only did not lose a thing. I gained a new favourite lipliner brand.

Ok not the best English there but you get my drift. These lipliners are brilliant and there are some amazing colours. I have found some perfect colour matches for some of my lippies and the liners are so soft.

Oh yes….they are £1. Need I say more?

Bobbi Brown Bronzer in Golden Light £28.50

I needed a new bronzer to replace my Dior one and I find my St Tropez bronzer is more suited for the summer/tanner months.

I watched quite a few reviews on various bronzers. (I find something extremely therapeutic about watching people apply bronzer- I personally think Bronzing is the most underrated step of doing your makeup.) I saw this Bobbi Brown bronzer ‘in action’ and was uber impressed with the look.

It’s hard to describe my love for this bronzer. I try to be very descriptive and imaginative when writing my blog posts (I try!!) so the following sentence is not really in keeping with my desired theme of writing…..

This bronzer is just so nice.

There is no other way to say it. It’s matt and yet makes your skin glow. It warms your skin and stays on but overall it is just really REALLY nice.

And there you have it for my new beauty buys that I am loving at the moment. I will be doing a skincare one soon as I have totally reinvented my skincare game (my wallet is sobbing as we speak). I just want to wait a few weeks to see how my skin takes to the new regime over a period of time.

Have a great week!
